Southdown Marina
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves to you as the new managing agents for Southdown Marina.
We are Shaun and Trevor Huggins and as well as being involved in the construction industry for many years, we also have a considerable marine background with the acquisition of Carbeile Wharf and Torpoint Yacht Harbour in recent years.
During the coming year we aim to provide a significant program of investment and improvements that will make Southdown Marina more of a key to the thriving fishing community and boating fraternity within this unique are of the Tamar and the South West. Obviously being part of Huggins Marina Group privately owned with a non corporate attitude, berth holders will undoubtedly benefit from the continued very competitive berth and mooring rates.
Some of the additional services within our improvement program will be the added benefit of a 24 hour security and state of the art CCTV systems.
We will be providing a 40 ton dock lift facility and travel hoist.
Refurbishment of existing w/c and shower facilities etc.
New brokerage office and our own premium quality second hand sports boats sales.
New marine engineer and boat cleaning facilities.
New container storage rental.
Additional pontoon berthing including special low level dinghy storage facilities at low water for the commercial fishermen.
New low cost Tennon and mast professional yacht cradle hire.
Diesel fuel sales.
The first of its kind in the UK unique mooring service 100+ deepwater trot and swinging moorings at Mount Edgecumbe (Oil Steps). Owners using this facility are able to use, free or charge, our courtesy taxi rib to go to and from their boat with out the need for the hassle of a dinghy. This service runs in conjunction with our other marina at Torpoint Yacht Harbour from the 1st April through to mid October on the hour 9am seven days a week subject to weather and tide.
Customers can also store their dinghy’s and outboards safely at Southdown Marina as part of the service, should they wish.
Other facilities included in this unique options are, full us of the marina facilities, toilets, showers, car parking, pick up water and 224 hour security at the harbour.
Customers of Southdown Marina can also, free of charge, land at Torpoint Yacht Harbour to enable easy access to Torpoint Town Centre and Plymouth City Centre.
In the meantime Trevor, I and Nathan the new Marina Manager will endeavour to continue offering professional boatyard and berthing facilities within Huggins Marina Group without the major corporate marina’s horrendous fee’s and surcharges.
Can all customers and berth holders now ensure that any future payments with effect from the 1st December 2006 are now made out the Huggins Bro’s Marina Group.
